Banner Blue is a 501(c)(3) focused on art and other innovative resources for ministry.
Churches often ask how to better engage their young people—but here’s the truth: youth and kids are already deeply engaged through creativity, technology, performance, building, and more. The key is recognizing and encouraging what they’re already passionate about—and helping them see how those gifts can be used in the church and the wider community.
That’s why Banner Blue and Brick Books are awarding $100 prepaid Mastercards to youth and children whose creative projects reflect imagination, heart, and a desire to make a difference. Submissions are due by Sunday, August 10, and will be reviewed by a panel of judges.
Youth and children in 12th grade or below are eligible for these prizes. This includes graduating seniors of the class of 2025. Submissions must be made by a parent or guardian on behalf of the child or youth. The Riveter Prize may be submitted on behalf of a group of children or youth. These prizes are intended for any children and youth of the ELCA. Children and youth who live on the autism spectrum or with another disability are highly encouraged to make a submission. Each example submission below was made by an autistic Lutheran.

Coming this September, Sacred Ground is a 12-session Zoom-based series for congregational small groups and all rostered leaders. This powerful spiritual journey explores the intersection of race, faith, and history—inviting participants to reflect on personal and collective stories through film, reading, and guided discussion. Grounded in the love and justice of Jesus, Sacred Ground offers a safe, faith-centered space to deepen understanding of racial equity, Indigenous and BIPOC histories, and our shared call to reconciliation. Sessions will begin in mid-September and meet every other week. Participants will be grouped by congregation when possible. Registration link coming soon!
